Best Places to Work in Kentucky is a survey and awards program that celebrates companies in Kentucky who are making their workplaces great.  The program is a project of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (KYSHRM) in partnership with Workforce Research Group.

To determine winners of the prestigious award, a two-part survey is conducted to thoroughly assess each employer.  The assessments review the company’s employee policies & procedures and employee opinions & feedback about their workplace experience.  Kentucky employees’ feedback determines 80 percent of a company’s score.  An employer assessment accounts for 20 percent of the company’s score.

To qualify, companies must meet the following criteria:

  • Publicly or privately held
  • For-profit, not-for-profit, or government organization
  • Have a physical location in Kentucky
  • Have at least 15 full- or part-time employees working in Kentucky
  • Have been in business for at least one year

The competition is a multi-year initiative designed to motivate companies in the Commonwealth to focus, measure, and move their workplace environments toward excellence. Numerous studies show a strong correlation between profitability and creating a good place to work.

Collected employee feedback is presented in an online interactive reporting tool for each employer who participates.  The dashboard allows employers to review the information as they create their strategic plans for the future.

For more than 75 years, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce has represented the interests of member businesses throughout Kentucky – from family-owned shops to Fortune 500 companies. As the state’s premier business advocate, the Kentucky Chamber is a recognized and respected voice across the Commonwealth, working every day to unite business and advance Kentucky.
