Maysville Community & Technical College (MCTC) recently honored STOBER General Manager Peter Feil for his service to their Board of Directors. Feil said he is very grateful for having had the opportunity to serve on the MCTC Board.
“MCTC is such a great asset to our community, supporting our local businesses,” he said. “At STOBER, we have an apprenticeship program with 17 apprentices currently enrolled in higher education, many at MCTC.”
The STOBER Apprenticeship Program began in 2005 and provides employees full-time benefits and pay while they work 30 hours per week and attend school 10 hours per week. All school expenses are paid for by the company and apprentices may choose from several college institutions and disciplines of study. Eight out of 10 Apprenticeship Program graduates remain in leadership roles throughout the company today.
“MCTC is an essential contributor to STOBER’s current and future business success. STOBER and MCTC will continue to work closely together to provide excellent career opportunities for many folks right here in Maysville.”
Since the program’s inception, STOBER has used the apprenticeship program to help train people to be fully qualified candidates to fill positions that are anticipated to be hired in coming years. More than 50 apprentices have graduated the program in nine different disciplines.
In addition to the Apprenticeship Program, STOBER also offers employees tuition reimbursement for those interested in pursuing Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degrees in their field.
“MCTC provides curriculum for many employees pursuing degrees through our tuition reimbursement program,” Feil said. “These people development programs at STOBER are essential for us to maintain a highly educated workforce as we continue to grow and add more jobs in our community.”
