Third-Party Compatibility
Many engineers have a preferred drive manufacturer for equipment design. However, selecting a gearbox and motor that works with that drive manufacturer can be complicated. Seamless integration is a necessity, but it’s not always clear which products are compatible with which drives. In this episode of STOBER’s Power Tips, I will discuss STOBER’s drive compatibility and how easy integration can be.
How does STOBER define compatibility? It’s the ability to use our motor with a third-party drive as if using the manufacturer motor. When you get to the jog phase, the drive treats the STOBER motor like a first-party motor.
STOBER motors and geared motors are extremely flexible in both design and compatibility with third-party drives. Not only does STOBER have the largest breadth of geared motors on the market, but we also work with the most popular drive brands, including Beckhoff, Bosch, B&R, Control Techniques, Kollmorgen, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, and Siemens. It’s easy to use these brands with solutions ranging from single or dual cable, EnDat 2.1 and 2.2, Resolver, and Hiperface DSL.
We also offer compatibility outside these brands with alternative options for drives that have not been directly discussed. These accept EnDat 2.1, EnDat 2.2, Hiperface DSL, and Resolver feedback options. The STOBER motors and geared motors are built with a STOBER-standard pinout and tested on a STOBER drive controller to ensure superior quality and functionality.
STOBER is always exploring new compatibilities, so please contact us if your drive of choice was not discussed. Every solution is pinned out and tested on the appropriate drive on our state-of-the-art end-of-line tester.
Whether you need XML file, CMF file, or parameter sheet for manual implementation, all information is readily available on the STOBER website. Cables can be recommended by our application engineering team, which is always available and dedicated to helping you optimize your machine.
Plus, we offer emergency application and installation support 24/7/365 anywhere in the U.S. If you need spare parts, replacement drives, retrofitting, or repairs, you can always contact our aftermarket support team for fast and competent help.
With extensive drive compatibility as well as all the supporting documentation, files, and engineering guidance, it’s easy to integrate STOBER into your system. Want to learn more?
